Antelope Island is the largest (of 10!) island located in the Great Salt Lake. It is 42 square miles and located near the city of Syracuse, UT. It is about a 45 minute drive from Salt Lake City. You can read more about the history of the island here. Today it is home to miles of hiking, running and mountain biking trails, bison, coyote, antelope, tons of different birds and on very rare occasions, Wolverine. The best time to visit is in the fall or winter. Summer and spring can be hot as there are no trees and lots and lots of gnats. Below are some of my favorite trails.
Dooly Knob: 2.7 miles RT, 750ft elevation gain - perfect sunset hike with incredible 360 degree views

Frary Peak: 7.5 miles RT, 2500ft elevation gain - note in the winter it will be longer due to needing to hike up the winter road to the trail head

Lakeside Loop: 5 miles RT, 350ft elevation gain
Sentry Loop Trail via S Island Trail: 6.9 miles RT, 1,000ft elevation gain

White Rock Loop: 7.3 miles, 700ft elevation gain - you can keep going and create a loop that’s about 9.5 miles
